  1. Nuclear Journal of Canada, 1987 Vol 1 No. 1, by R.I. Haines, D.G. Owen and T. T. Vandergraaf, CNS-, 1987-03-01. Doc type: Paper.
Summary: The behaviour of technetium in the geosphere is important in nuclear fuel waste management studies because this manmade element has a long half-life and, under ambient conditions in the laboratory, is not readily sorbed on geological materials. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies have shown conclusively that the reaction between TeO; and Fe304 at room temperature occurs via a surface reduction of TcO4 to TcO2, the latter being precipitated at the Fe304 surface. These results confirm that technetium can be contained effectively by magnetite in the geosphere, provided reducing conditions can be maintained.

  3. Nuclear Journal of Canada, 1987 Vol 1 No. 3, by W.T. Hancox, CNS-, 1987-09-01. Doc type: Paper.
Summary: This paper describes the Canadian concept for safe, permanent disposal of nuclear fuel waste deep in plutonic rock of the Canadian Shield. The ability of the disposal concept to isolate the wastes is then discussed in the light of laboratory and field research results. The methodlogy developed to characterize the hydrogeology of a plutonic rock mass is outlined and results obtained from its application to a field site are described. Also highlighted are the Canadian field research areas and the Underground Research Laboratory.

  5. Nuclear Journal of Canada, 1987 Vol 1 No. 4, by J.M. Bewers, CNS-, 1987-12-01. Doc type: Paper.
Summary: This paper outlines the history and regulation of sea dumping of packaged low-level radioactive waste in the ocean. The procedures by which dumping limits are established and periodic safety evaluations conducted under international auspices are described. Particular reference is made to recent negotiations on the future of the practice within the London Dumping Convention and the role played by Canada in this forum, and in others relevant to this subject.

  17. Nuclear Weapons and Nuclear Reactors, by Dan Meneley, OPG, 1997-08-01. Doc type: Report.
Summary: This report addresses the tenuous link between nuclear power reactor development and the proliferation of nuclear weapons, particularly with respect to possible terrorist exploitation. Arguments are presented which contradict the popular image of nuclear weaponry as a "basement project".

  19. The Essential CANDU, by Wm.J. Garland, Editor-in-Chief, UNENE, 2015-01-01. Doc type: Book.
Summary: The Essential CANDU is a textbook about nuclear science and engineering pertaining to CANDU reactors using CANDU as the reference design. This distinguishes it from comparable textbooks based on PWR reactors. This is not a product description of CANDU per se. The book emphasizes theory over other aspects of nuclear science. This is a textbook about CANDU nuclear reactor and power plant engineering, not just the reactor physics of the core.
